Terms and conditions: By submitting your mobile phone number, you are subscribing to receive text messages and alerts from Reliant Energy. Please note that you will only receive texts for the alerts you select. For more information, see the frequently asked questions below.

How do I sign up for alerts?
  
You have the option to receive email or SMS alerts about various events related to your bill and your usage. On the Contact and Alert Preferences page, click “Email” or “SMS” next to the alert you’d like to receive; please remember that to set up alerts via SMS, we’ll need a mobile device number. 4 messages per month

 

How do I discontinue alerts?
  
Just uncheck the box next to the alert you want to discontinue on the Contact and Alert Preferences page. Or, if you’re set up for SMS alerts, you can text STOP to 697697.

 

How much does the alert service cost?
  
Reliant Energy provides this service free of charge; message and data rates may apply to your wireless phone bill or may be deducted from your prepaid balance.

 

Which carriers are compatible with text alerts?
  
Compatible carriers include: ACS Wireless, Alltel, Appalachian Wireless (EKN), AT&T, Bluegrass Cellular, Boost, CellCom, Cellular One of East Central Illinois (ECIT), Cellular South, Centennial Wireless, Cincinnati Bell, Cox Communications, GCI Communications, Illinois Valley Cellular (IVC), Inland Cellular, Keystone Wireless (Immix/PC Management), MetroPCS, Nex-Tech Wireless, nTelos, Pioneer, Revol Wireless, Sprint/Nextel/Boost, Thumb Cellular, T-Mobile, Unicel (RCC/Rural Cellular Corporation), United Wireless, US Cellular, Verizon Wireless, Virgin Mobile and West Central Wireless (including Five Star Wireless).

 

Do text alerts work with international numbers?
  
Text alerts are currently available for subscribers within the United States.

What information is available on demand through MyAccount Texts?
  
For your convenience, we make it easy to get information about your usage and your Reliant Energy account on your mobile device. To utilize MyAccount Texts, send any of the following keywords to 697697. (Messaging and data rates may apply.)
  • BILL to receive the amount and due date for your next Reliant Energy bill.
  • EST BILL to receive an estimate of your next bill based on your usage so far this month.
  • COST to receive the amount of electricity charges you’ve incurred so far this month.
  • USAGE to receive your usage in kilowatt-hours so far this month.
  • STOP to stop receiving all text alerts; this will have no other affect on your account.
  • HELP for resources to answer questions about your account.
